Nathanael and 'Come and See'
Philip runs to Nathanael — 'We have found the one Moses and the prophets wrote of: Jesus of Nazareth.' Nathanael dismisses it at once. 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?' He has not yet met the man.

- prophet — one who received God's word and spoke it plainly to king and people. Not a fortune-teller, but one who names right and wrong without fear. Also called a seer.
- Nazareth — a small, obscure village in Galilee. It was so unremarkable that people looked down on it, which is why there was even a saying, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” It is where Jesus grew up.
